Biking for Ovarian Cancer Awareness

Rehoboth Beach, DE to Pittsburgh, PA then Missoula, MT. to Florence, OR. All for a Cure

My Mission

This year, I registered with Team TEAL - Miles Your Way because I want to raise awareness and funding for the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC). Your support will help improve the lives of individuals, families and communities touched by ovarian cancer. Although my plans changed rather dramatically while cycling through Maryland, I still need your help, so please consider making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising efforts.

I had hoped to complete a cross-country bicycle tour from the Delaware Coast to Florence, OR., but had a crash and so fell considerably short of that lofty goal, only making it as far as Pittsburgh, PA., a distance of 561 miles, not the 4,000 planned. It has now been over a month and the ribs have healed, I'm back on the bike and feeling good. So, the host organization, the Adventure Cycling Association, has graciously agreed to let me rejoin the group. I will meet them in Missoula, MT. on 26 June and hopefully complete the remaining 900 miles of the tour, ending up in Florence, OR. mid July.

My motivation was and remains honoring the memory of a great lady, my wife Leslie, and supporting an organization dedicated to battling this disease which affected Leslie for so many years.

In this year of great challenges, one even greater challenge remains, saving more lives from ovarian cancer. Dollars raised for the NOCC support national programs and local market initiatives to heighten awareness of the subtle signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer, assist newly-diagnosed patients throughout the country, provide ongoing support to caregivers, and advocate for the advancement of ovarian cancer research. Your help and support will help other families navigate this disease and hopefully not experience the loss my family has.

You can follow my journey, learn what happened in Maryland and my plans to attempt to finish what I started by clicking on the "Blog" button at the top right corner of this page. Hopefully I'll stay upright and your contributions will lessen the suffering of those touched by ovarian cancer remains.

Leslie's family and I appreciate your support so much! Thank you!
